Through the Years:
Miss Illinois
SCRAPBOOK

Part of the job of Miss Illinois is working with Illinois school children.  Here Miss Illinois 1994 Chuti Tiu performs with a group of students.
Her platform was "A Children's Guide to Non-Violence:  Education and Prevention," which she promoted during her year of service.
Miss Illinois 1991 (Miss Chicago) Cheryl Majercik is honored with the Quality of Life Award at the Miss America Pageant.  She was awarded first place for her active involvement with "Chicago House," a residential facility for AIDS patients.
She was the first-ever QOL winner to donate her $10,000 award RIGHT BACK to a benefit of her choice (The Chicago House.)  Every winner since then has followed her suit.
Miss Illinois 1995 Tracy Hayes (Miss DuPage County) was the first Miss Illinois to be crowned in Oakbrook Terrace.  Her platform "Juvenile Delinquency:  Prevention, Intervention and Rehabilitation" helped her place as fourth runner-up to Miss America 1996.
